Cattle Rancher Thomas Enoff has been closely following the resulting events that have transpired since wildfires in the Texas Panhandle caused cattle ranchers to lose thousands of cattle. In the latest news, Senator Ted Cruz and Representative Ronny Jackson have introduced the Livestock Indemnity Program Enhancement Act in response to the devastation.
There is a glimmer of hope for Texas cattle ranchers impacted by the devastating wildfires that took place earlier this year. In a statement from Senator Ted Cruz, he expressed that “Texas ranchers are the backbone of the Texas agriculture industry.” Registering the importance of cattle ranchers and their impact on local food and agriculture supply, Cruz and Representative Ronny Jackson stepped up. Thomas Enoff, a fellow cattle rancher, feels hopeful when reviewing the conditions of the proposed bill. The Livestock Indemnity Program Enhancement Act seeks to offer affected ranchers compensation for the losses of livestock, pregnant livestock and unborn livestock. This support will be required from the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Originally, only the losses of over 7,000 cattle were factored into support to be offered to the affected ranches. If passed, the presented bill will also factor in support and financial compensation for the loss of pregnant cattle and unborn calves.
Both as a cattle rancher and as an independent insurance adjuster, Thomas Enoff is happy to hear this news. He looks forward to following all future developments as Texas works to rebuild ranches in the Panhandle.
